"Chumma-Chum-Chum" and
"Tumma-Tum-Tum"
meet outside the mine entrance.
indentThe engine in the middle was built
by my collaborator in the original model, John Hillary. Both engines run on ordinary
Hornby chassis although one has had a Portescap coreless motor and gearbox fitted to
improve its performance. The tree trunks stretching up out of sight and the tall greenery
of the forest floor help make the trains look suitably diminutive.
indentThe story quotes a gnome as being "about as high
as this book" which does rather depend on whether you are reading the hardback or the
paperback! Our gnomes are about an inch high (plus hat!).
