A North-bound express thunders through Tupdale without stopping. . .
indentTupdale is capable of handling only about a 5-coach train at its platforms but the "brief" from the customer was to be able to run 10-coach expresses. Since the storage sidings are hidden away there is a need to be able to re-form trains within the station. By placing the two crossovers beyond the sharp curves at each end of the station we have 17 feet between them and so can easily handle the longest train the sidings will take - a double-headed 18-coach monster!
